Projects

This week we have a variety of events going on; hopefully there's something for everyone.

Wednesday (today): Project meetings

If you want to work on or just see the current state of our projects, come along to the Learning Grid from 1:00. We'll probably be working on: * Mindbender * Path of Riddles * Kraken * Unnamed WSAF game

Events

Wednesday (today): Console social

It's the first console social of term! We're in B2.13/14 from 7:00 tonight. If you can bring any TVs, game consoles or games, that would be great; otherwise just turn up and have some fun.

Other things you could bring include a GBA (we're planning to play Zelda: Four Swords for the Gamecube) and, of course, pizza money.

Thursday (tomorrow): IGDA meeting

The IGDA (Independent Game Developers Association) meeting is a great place to meet and talk to real life game developers - if you're even slightly interested in getting into the industry, you should really come along. And if that's not convincing enough for you, then there'll be a cheap bar.

We'll be meeting at 7:00 at the Arts Centre bus stop on campus. If you're interested in coming, it would be good if you could print off the form found here and fill it out.

More details on the forums here.

48 Hour Competition

Friday (tomorrow's tomorrow): 48 hour competition

The best event of term, the 48 hour competition, is here again! Can you make a game in 48 hours based on a randomly generated name? There's only one way to find out...

You don't need to have made a game before or have any experience; we've found that attending one of these competitions is one of the very best ways to learn.

We'll be located in S0.03 (Social Studies building, diagonally across the square from the main foyer). We're starting at 5:00; please try to be there on time. If people are late, it makes organising teams that much more difficult.

On the Saturday, some of us will be taking a short break to advertise the society and computer science at the DCS open day. If you're interested in this but won't be at the competition, please reply to this email and let us know.

And that's about all

It think that covers everything. Sorry for bombarding you with all this information at once, and hope to see you at some of the events,
