Console Social - Wednesday week 3!

Postby Jonathan G » Fri Oct 13, 2006 5:57 pm

Come and play games! We'll be playing Guitar Hero, Donkey Konga and Singstar among other things.

If you have a console, TV or games to bring, please post here asap so we can get things organised by Wednesday. Remember to bring your REMOTE CONTROL. And extension leads/splitters.

It'll take place this wednesday (week 3) from 7pm to 12pm in B213-4. Hope to see you all there!

I've got an xbox though not many decent games, my laptop (yeah, not a console but at least it doesn't need a tv...) and a 19 / 20 inch TV as well - but will need a car to get it onto campus...

(Jon, are you going to post about this on the blog and send out an email?)
(Nico, what inputs does the projector take?)

Hardware I can bring without a car:
PS2
Gamecube
XBox
GH Controller
Singstar Mics x2

Hardware I can only bring with a car:
TV
Dance Mat

I can't get money out of the Union for food, though if we sell any t-shirts at the Monday meeting I'm happy to reinvest that in pizza.

I *may* be prepared to bring my car again. I can't promise anything at this stage though since I'm supposed to be going home on Wednesday until Saturday...

This clashes with the regular Sci-Fi games meet, which is run in a room also on the science concourse. I shall probably dip in and out of both.

I can bring 2 gamecubes with quite a few games including dancing stage mario mix with 2 mats with 4 controllers. Also 1 set of bongos.

Also Kieren has an xbox with 4 controllers with about 100 games on the hard drive and unlimited SNES ROMs and emulator he can bring.

We don't have a spare tv though. I guess screens could be a problem.

I've only got my PS2 and handhelds with me and the associated arcade stick and Beatmania IIDX controllers that go with a fighting game and Bemani habit.

My Guitars are in Cambridge.

I can offer a 19" TV, but that's rather car-dependent.

Are you using the data projector in the room?

Whether or not you are, do you want another one? My housemate Mark will rent one out to us for a tenner.

That might not be a good idea. If something were to happen, however unlikely, it wouldn't be a pleasant situation for anyone who appeared responsible. Unless he's got out of house insurance or whatever (which I guess maybe he does otherwise he wouldn't risk it for a mere tenner).

I agree with Jim. If it's insured and so any accidents aren't a problem, it'd be awesome as we always need more TVs (so to speak) but otherwise I'd suggest not...those things are expensive aren't they?

In future I'd recommend borrowing it with an 'on your head be it' warning if you want it. Then if anything happens and he moans you can say that you warned him and that he can take up the issue with my fist if he has problems. He's a money grabbing git is why he's loaning it out. (And yes he is a good friend of mine is the only reason why I'm so horrid!)

That social was awesome. I only wish I'd picked up more peoples' names. I love the music game slant the social had. Nintendo DDR was well fun, especially as I was constantly almost falling over when I played it (not intentional, I'm just very out of practice!), I'd like to play more of it at a future social.

Fighting games on the projector were sweeeet as well.

GGs everyone.
