I just put up my feeble first attempt at an axe on the wiki. Unfortunately I cant texture it properly and the blade is a bit hacky close up.

Cool looking axe. I haven't tried out SoftImage properly but it looks like the business.

I'm not sure if we've talked about the setting of the game, like the time period and stuff? I sort of assumed a present-day situation.

Yeah good point nick, I think we all assumed modern day but didn't actually specify. Whatever time it is, it's a time that has shotguns :p

ne-waller: cool looking axe, but I'm not sure if it fits in with the style / theme we imagine. Maybe you could try a fire-axe like you see in cases in some buildings? That would probably work a lot better.

best images I could find in 5 mins:

Yeah looks good, it's kind of hard to tell from those low-quality screens though Smile .

Can you work on a texture or shall I find someone else to try?

I'll try to texture it, but no promises. Are there any other models that i could have a go at?

If you're feeling confident enough you could have a go at a double-barreled shotgun or pistol, something like these:

(not sure on pistol style yet, it needs to be something small that you could feasibly find hidden in a building somewhere. Like the ones you see on old American cop shows)

If you want something easier you could try a gas tank cylinder thing, like this:

I want those little blue camping gaz ones that you use for cooking in the woods.

I also want to make a few joke weapons that are disabled by default but a server can enable if they feel like it. Like a magic finger that you can point at stuff to make them explode, a la Monty Python's Holy Grail. Boom.

I have no real idea what shotguns look like, so whatever style is normal Razz

I can't find any really good source images unfortunately.

What would be really cool would be if it was an antique shotgun. Or at least an English hunting shotgun, not one of those American shotguns with the barrels stacked vertically (like on counter-strike or something).

Also I noticed the underside of your shotgun model looks suspiciously like a deformed sphere Smile Probably the best thing for the handle would be box modelling, just make a box, either split it up into sections or extrude edges, and make a rough shape of the handle. Then you can use a meshsmooth modifier (don't know where that is in XSI) to smooth it out into a nice shape.

but NOT THIS

this would be awesome though.

Yeh, something like the Serious Sam shotgun

That was probably the most amazing shotgun ever, as anyone who has played the game will agree.
