Idea!

Postby darthsteven » Mon Oct 17, 2005 11:02 am

Basically I see lots of ideas being chucked around, but they're all basically the same as games that are already on the market, and I don't think we could do better than EA, Sierra etc. So here is a more realistic idea:

Tamagotchi for a phone!

Key advantages:
Development in java,
Good mix of graphics and programming,
Portability,
using J2ME would emphasises good, efficient coding,
Its quite a fun game anyway,

I'll leave the bad points of this game to you.

Not to dismiss the idea or rule anything out - but how is this any different to the Tamagotchi's that were such a huge "success" not so long ago, and for games such as Nintendogs? Of course, the main difference is that with it being on a phone, the game has to be designed for very short bursts of gameplay, and it has to be designed so that it can store stuff in the phone's memory (which I'm not sure that J2ME has access to)

The other point would be that my old phone had a Tamagotchi on it already...

The main bad point in my view would be that this is a relatively small project, and it may be more something for a single person as opposed to a group of 6 or 7+ people.

I'm sure that at one point a phone was released with the main game on it was a pet, moreover the pet lived on the default screen and all of the images were those annoying links to contact lists and games and whatnot.. Anywho it's like a Tamagochi but for a phone, which is what you were driving at about all the other ideas? How everyone else has done them?
